Mergermarket acquires Fund IV portfolio co. TIM Group

Mark McQueen

UK-based Mergermarket has announced the recent acquisition of Wellington Financial Fund IV portfolio co. TIM Group.  Mergermarket is backed by BC Partners.

TIM Group is a SaaS developer of applications serving buyside funds and sell-side brokerage firms.  The software allows the buyside to identify market-beating opportunities and reward the contributors of such information accordingly; it also came to play an important compliance role relating to payment for investment recommendations.  When we got involved in 2012, TIM was headquartered in the United Kingdom, with a development office in Boston and sales teams in New York and Hong Kong.  A Pan-Atlantic structure that is becoming quite commonplace.  At the time, the VC firms backing the company included Commonwealth Capital and JL Albright Ventures.  Merrill Lynch was a strategic investor.

Congrats to TIM co-founder / CEO Rich Koppel and the rest of his team.
