Going-private situations where the fund is generally the only lender involved and a clear path to repayment can be seen through the sale of an existing asset, for example.
Target sectors include:
- Automation

- Biotechnology / healthcare
- Business services
- Light manufacturing
- Oil and gas services
- Technology
Obvious "red lights":
- Products not yet completed;
- No Chief Executive Officer (unless acceptable candidate has already been identified);
- No revenue;
- NASDAQ OTC-listed with $2 million market-cap., for example; and
- Recently failed (inexplicably) M&A auction process.
