Ontario PGA Match Play Championship

2 September 2007

This is from an Ontario PGA release:

(Pickering, Ont., August 31,  2007) - The 2007 Ontario PGA Match Play Championship is set to take place on September 13th at Beacon Hall Golf Club. Danny King, Andy Holborn, John Rushnell and Ryan Davis represent the final four players to earn births into the match play semi finals.

King, who recently finished in 22nd spot at the Jane Rogers Championship on the Canadian Tour, took down 2006 Champion Scott Bogel 4 & 3 at Beacon Hall earlier this month.

“We were all square through 7-holes and then he won four in a row,” said Bogle “Any time your playing against someone like Danny and you’re down 4 it’s hard to come back.”

King, representing the North Central bracket, will now face Andy Holborn who will be representing the South Central bracket in the first semi-final match of the day.

“Andy’s strength is his driver, but my game plan won’t change much in terms of preparing,” said King. “My plan is to keep the ball in play and hit a lot of greens, hopefully that will get me to the final.”

John Rushnell, who knocked out 2006 Match Play runner up Luke McKenzie, faces Ryan Davis in the second semi-final match. The winner of that match will take on the winner of the King vs. Holborn match.

The Golf Buddy Match Play Championship presented by LastMinuteGolfer begins with the morning matches at 8:00 AM while the afternoon matches begin at 1:00PM. A midday update will be provided from Beacon Hall on Thursday September 13th.
