Ontario PGA Titleist Cup
1 September 2007This is from an Ontario PGA release:
(Pickering, Ont., August 30, 2007) – The 2007 Ontario PGA Titleist Cup Team has been confirmed and this year’s team has some familiar faces looking to bring the cup back to Ontario. The Quebec PGA Titleist Cup team has dominated Ontario in the Ryder Cup style tournament every year since 1994 excluding a tie in 2003 between the two teams.
“This year we have a strong team made up of savvy veterans with strong playing backgrounds,” said team Captain Kevin Corriveau. “We are confident that this team will contend for the cup at Essex.”
The Titleist Cup as it became known in 1987 however wasn’t always dominated by Quebec. When the matches were rejuvenated in 1977, by then Ontario PGA tournament Capitan Ken Fulton, Ontario won the first eight of eleven matches. The most successful Captain to date for Ontario is Mike Silver, the Head Professional at Highland Country Club in London, who lead the team to victory five times from 1983 – 1987.
The Ontario PGA will be looking to get some of the magic back that they had in the 1980’s and this might be the team to do it. The following is the list of team members who will be competing on the 2007 Ontario PGA Titleist Cup team.
Dan Greenwood – Head Professional Division
Gar Hamilton – Head Professional Division
Brian Hutton – Head Professional Division
Tom Jackson – Head Professional Division
Mark Kappes – Head Professional Division
Danny King – Head Professional Division
Reggie Millage – Apprentice Division

The matches begin on October 4th with October 3rd reserved for practice rounds for the competitors. Day 2 of the Titleist Cup Matches will include 12 singles matches with a total of 24 points available. Tied matches will remain tied with ½ point awarded to each team.
