Our Partners

This blog is a sideline to our real role in the Canadian specialty finance market (venture debt, term debt, operating loans and sub debt for corporates). Wellington Financial Fund III is backed by leading firms in merchant banking, wealth management and private equity, including:
Clairvest Group Inc. (CVG:TSX) is a Canadian-based merchant bank that forms investment partnerships with entrepreneurial corporations, both public and private, with the potential to generate above-average returns. Clairvest invests not only its own capital but also that of third party investors, as manager of the Clairvest Equity Partners Limited Partnership fund. In 2001, Clairvest launched a new fund called “Clairvest Equity Partners Limited Partnership” (“CEP”), raising $164 million from outside investors, and committing to invest $55 million alongside the fund. This moved Clairvest from a merchant bank that invests its own capital to generate returns, to one that invests with third-party investors who want access to Clairvest’s proven investment expertise.
In 2006, Clairvest launched Clairvest Equity Partners III Limited Partnership (“CEP III”). The capital pool of up to $300 million is capitalized at $240 million from CEP III and $60 million from Clairvest.
Export Development Canada (”EDC”) is Canada’s export credit agency, offering innovative financing, insurance and bonding solutions to Canadian companies that export good and services, or invest in other countries. EDC’s knowledge and partnerships are used by 7,000 Canadian companies and their global customers in up to 200 markets worldwide each year. EDC is financially self-sustaining and is a recognized leader in financial reporting, economic analysis and human resource management.
VentureLink LP., a formerly-owned subsidiary of CI Fund Management Inc. (CIX:TSX), has approximately $190 million in assets under management. VentureLink funds give investors access to well-diversified portfolios of established companies operating in traditional industries such as financial, manufacturing and service industries, as well as dynamic industries like biotechnology and alternative energy.
