GE to ditch subprime loan unit?

According to what appears to be a single source, the WSJ has validated a Bloomberg story advising that General Electric (GE:NYSE) has hired Morgan Stanley to sell its Subprime Mortgage Unit.

Businessweek Magazine on red-faced rating agencies

I can’t help but notice that Businessweek Magazine supports the view that the rating agencies let their clients down by not addressing the subprime meltdown earlier (see “Bloggers Downgrade Ratings Agencies” by Tim Catts, July 12-07).
Going public hasn’t improved the product, now has it?
